Personality
Avelia is a friendly, yet shy Miqo'te at first meeting. She's polite, and can be flustered quite easily, enjoying socialization and meeting others, but not always the smoothest when interacting.
She's someone who is determined and sticks to her goals, no matter how high the pressure can get, or bogged down she may feel when she doesn't succeed. She'll try and try again. She's unlikely to share this burden, however.
She cares deeply for others, and has some repressed trauma she's reluctant to talk about.
She tries to keep her heart protected, though she gets caught up in her feelings too often, and can be quite naive, repeating the same mistakes and trusting the wrong people.
She can feel lonesome at times, especially when traveling so often. Even when in a crowded room, it can feel like you're completely and utterly alone, no one knowing a thing about you. The struggles she faces can feel overwhelming and impossible, and she's the only one who can do anything to try to fix it.Though.. she tries to stay cheery and social, and enjoys meeting new people, especially when dancing and roaming the streets. She occasionally will form close relationships, especially when they click, partaking and learning about their different cultures and way of life.
She enjoys plants and herbs, studying them, sketching them intently to herself, and wants to learn how to cure her brother from his illness, which is why she ventured out from where she grew up. She cares deeply and fully, especially about her family and friends, nothing stopping her heart from following where it may lead her.

SummaryAvelia is a herbologist and healer who co-owns a small shop within the lush city of Gridania with her best friend Mitti, a Viera she's known since she was a small child. Finding herbs and information, helping others with healing is what she tends to do day to day, when she's not traveling.
It can be surprisingly eventful in their quaint little shop, filled to the brim with blooming plants, rows and rows of bottles, and drawers of common and rare herbs - everything a healer might desire.When she isn't working at her shop or dancing in the streets and bustling crowds, she's adventuring, traveling far past Eorzea.
Seeking out rare herbs and remedies to stock their shop with, new things to see and do, new company or lovers she may meet along the way, and most importantly, a cure-all for her bedridden, dying brother, A'pollo.Despite Avelia having a sweet and shy manner, she feels a great need for company and socializing, feeling that loneliness and homesickness on the road. She appreciates people who can sympathize with her and her situation, and wears her heart on her sleeve too often.
Feirce determination and love for her family and elder brother, who had always been there for her, is what others grow to notice in her. She keeps others at arms length, never knowing when they may leave or be hurt beyond repair..
She's tired of being hurt, herself.She keeps a smile on her face, that caring nature not faltering. Yet she feels that emptiness grow without companionship, a strange need and temptation for connection and company. Greedy and sometimes even possessive, threatening to take over if not careful..
This insatiable need is both a virtue and vice. While it's not clear what's made her this way, perhaps you could pick her mind just as readily as she would yours...Kind gestures go a long way with Avelia, especially when there are no strings attached, though it's rare in this day and age.She seems to make most of her gil through selling healing items from their shop and offering her healing services. Any extra gil she makes from dancing is just a bonus.
She enjoys deep conversation, music or the occasional flirtation, though it's rare for her to approach the other first.She also has a passion for plants and herbs, studying them, and wants to learn how to cure her brother from his illness, which is why she ventured out from where she grew up in the first place.

BackstoryAvelia, a middle child of a family of three raised in the Black Shroud, lives an adventurous and curious lifestyle, constantly in search for new information.(don't read if you don't want to know too many intimate details into why Avelia is the way she is):Avelia's family lives in the Black Shroud - so she knows her way around easily, and knows how to not anger the spirits/Elementals of the forest.Mitti, a Rava, moved to the Twelveswood with her family when she was quite young.
Avelia met her when Mitti was out in the forest, a very curious young girl, and was attacked - Ave healed her, and they became instant friends, being the same age and also loving herbs and nature.Avelia grew up in a family of healers. Her mother doesn't use aether to heal - just herbs and potions. But her profession made her whole family interested in it too, as they'd often help their mother out when they were old enough to do so.
Her eldest brother A'pollo uses aether to heal - he's both a white mage, a scholar and an Astrologian. However, he became so obsessed with healing, the limits of his own healing were being pushed and pushed - dangerously so. In order to save Avelia one day, he used all of his strength and aether on her - and he could no longer produce any aether. He became cold, had a terminal, chronic illness, and incredibly weak.He now has a sickness that can't be cured. And it breaks Avelia's heart to see him this way, and to know that it was because of her - to save her. He's dejected, fading away, his eyes don't have that same glow that they always had when he'd teach her a new spell or show her something in his books. But still, he's so gentle and kind and sometimes she just wishes he would get mad at her, take it out on her. Because she feels like she deserves it.The stigma for Keepers was now gone against their family, because of all the good her mother did for the people of Gridania. She was known as a healer, and they even sometimes call her 'the Keeper' in a loving way - the way she cared for others who needed it, especially when venturing into the Black Shroud and running into trouble.Afterwards, when Mitti and Ave grew up, Mitti and Avelia started a shop in Gridania - all to do with herbs and potions, and other tinctures for healing. They even sell books there on healing, especially ones Avelia has found across the world on her travels, introducing new ways of healing to Gridanians. Avelia's mother, Lisha, works here when the girls are out, usually in the back making potions and other items to sell, while also taking care of A'pollo every day - whatever they can do for him.Mitti and Avelia find herbs to sell, and Avelia will often go adventure and travel, and find other rare herbs away from Gridania, all the while searching for a cure for her brother. This includes studying books in different regions, asking other healers in these areas. She's quite strong willed, as many Keepers are, determined to find a way to help her eldest brother out.She also has younger brother, named Nico. However, he lives in Ul'dah with his husband, so she doesn't see him too often, unless she drops by on her travels.Avelia's father was around when she was very young - and he left when her baby brother was born - the very next night.
Avelia has fond memories of him but feels twisted up inside because of the way he left. She loves him, but can barely remember him. Sometimes she gets a certain smell of him, or a whistle he used to make in the forest, when showing her how to respect the Elementals, and it brings her back. She wants to smile and then cry, because it can happen so suddenly and so rarely. It feels like it crushes her heart when things like this happen.
She gets her determination and strong will from him, she believes. But then again, she also considers him a coward for running away from his family and responsibilities when her baby brother was born..Her brother Nico was quite rebellious his whole life, probably partly to do with his father, and wanted to leave the Twelveswood as soon as he could - finding his husband quite fast after he moved away.However, their mother doesn't speak of him - she'll just sometimes have a look of pain on her face, clearly thinking of him and missing him. Sometimes she'll look longingly at a picture of him, or something he gave her, the sadness so clear in her aqua eyes, it looks like a tear is there, but when you blink you realize there wasn't.A'pollo is similar to his mother about his father. But sometimes he would talk to his siblings about their father when they would ask him questions - what he was like, why he left, what happened to him... he always showed them kindness and understood their curiosity and pleas. But it was just too painful to talk about him around their mother.The last they heard of their father is that he got mixed up with something shady in Ul'dah and was executed. This happened when Avelia was around 15.

Avelia travels a great deal. She loves to learn about the world and cultures different from her own. If you've a mind for traveling and a passion for the unknown, then Avelia would probably get along with you.Looking for a Cure:
Avelia has been searching for a cure, remedy, any kind of solution to her brother's seemingly incurable illness, as he's slowly withering away back at home. If you happen to have a possible cure in your possession, are a healer yourself, or have any knowledge or rumors that could be a possible lead, she'd be forever grateful and pay you handsomely for your services.The Collector & Healer:
Avelia collects any healing balms, herbs, salves, or potions, for the explicit purpose of testing them to see if they could cure her bed-ridden brother. If they don't turn out to work for her brother or clearly wouldn't be strong enough, she will instead sell them to others, as well as her healing services of which she has spent countless months, years, and research to perfect and strengthen her powers. She will also give in when she sees or hears someone helplessly in need of healing, as it reminds her of her brother and her heart will quickly take over. (Herbologist/Healer)Dancer at Heart:
Avelia feels a lot of pressure in her day to day life, so in her spare time, she loves to let loose and feel the wind in her hair by dancing. Whether it procures some extra gil, or not, she appreciates this practice either way and finds that it comes quite naturally to her. She's been able to meet other dancers, watchers from afar, or others who are interested by her or entranced by her steps. She is swift and has careful maneuvers whilst dancing. However, when she stops and gets to know someone, she suddenly becomes quite clumsy and flustered with her movements and manners, often causing others to wonder how in the First she can be so night and day at times.Bodyguard in Need:
Although Avelia is quite capable in combat, especially as a healer, she occasionally will need a bodyguard or mercenary for backup. She will explain that she's in need in order to venture deep into the dangerous wood for pecuring certain herbs for her work. Avelia will be on the hunt for a bodyguard in taverns or the streets, and occasionally she gets lucky when others will approach her after hearing some rumors that she's been looking for some protection.Adventure:
Like to travel deep into forests or even just for some leisurely fun/a stroll? Hunt down herbs and treasures? Do you like to do things you've never done before, see places you've never been?
What a coincidence, so does she. If you're up for an adventure, so is she - dangerous or otherwise.
She always prefers a companion for these trips and will happily welcome any company she can find!Slice of Nature:
You can usually find Avelia in the forest searching for and studying plants and herbs to use in her next meal or medicinal test.
You may even spot her taking a rest with a snack as she sketches out the plants and scenery around her.
She may also be practicing her healing, or writing anonymous letters back home to her eldest brother.
Although she may shield the letters from your view, and feel a little shy about her sketches, she wouldn't say no to a little company, either, as she's an accommodating and polite Miqo'te.
On another note, perhaps you could be injured and be in need of some assistance, Avelia would jump into action to help. Or it could be the other way around - she needs someone to jump in to stop some bandits or monsters in the forest.
